Changes to Google’s SERP Along with Rising Mobile Usage Cause Big Shifts in SEM Trends
This quarter, The Search Agency saw growth across the board in its SEM data as clicks, spend, and click-through rate continue their rise. Much of the growth can be attributed to increased advertiser focus on mobile devices, including both tablets and smartphones. Spend share on mobile devices continues to climb on a quarter-over-quarter basis, with overall mobile spend share reaching 29%.

Our findings and forecasts are based on year-over-year (YoY) and quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) analyses on aggregated client data.
Paid search trends in Q2 of 2014 saw substantial growth year over year:
- Total clicks grew 36%
- Total spend increased 22%
- Click-through rate (CTR) jumped 58%
- Cost per click (CPC’s) fell 10%
