How are Fortune 100 Companies Doing on Mobile?
The mobile era is booming. According to a recent report by the Pew Research Center, more than half of the adult population owns a smartphone and that rate is continuing to increase. Now, marketers and web developers must take actionable steps to ensure that their websites properly render on mobile devices and provide a mobile-friendly experience to users.
To understand how businesses and corporations are responding to the demand for a mobile-friendly experience, The Search Agency evaluated the Fortune 100 companies’ mobile sites. The Search Agency’s team of mobile experts created a set of criteria across five categories to determine which corporations were most closely aligned with established mobile marketing best practices. The analysis was based on both quantitative factors established by industry best practices and qualitative factors determined by our team of experts.
Our findings were surprising:
- Although Google officially recommends that websites use Responsive Web Design (RWD) only 9% of the Fortune 100 companies use RWD
- 51% of the Fortune 100 Companies linked to their social media sites
- 84% of the Fortune 100 companies’ sites took longer than the 1 second to load (the Google recommended time frame for loading mobile sites)
