It’s been a busy year for Google. With thousands of updates to its algorithm, including one of its biggest updates since RankBrain, the search engine has challenged marketers to keep up with a dizzying array of changes.
Will Google continue its phonetic pace of updates in 2020 or should we expect a quieter year? How will the upcoming election impact any changes that Google does or doesn’t make?
Our presenters, Amanda Haxton (account manager), Chris Herbrand (technical SEO architect) and Fiona Riedel (account manager) from The Search Agency’s Earned Media team will share its analysis on these questions and other predictions during a free webinar on Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. PST.
The webinar will recap Google’s major updates such as the Diversity and BERT updates. Rolled out in late October, experts predicted BERT to update one in every 10 searches and better help Google understand semantic meaning.
In our webinar, Haxton will explain the impact updates like BERT is having on brands in industries like e-commerce and B2B.
“2019 has seen increased disruption in SERPs and I’m really excited to talk about some of the algorithm updates we’ve seen and how they will impact our strategies going into the new decade,” Haxton said.
It will also touch on why marketers need to write deeper content and how e-commerce brands should react to editorial content outranking brands on search.
In addition, the Earned Media team will share its predictions for 2020 so marketers can start the year strong. We’ll give you a hint: Editorial content will continue playing a critical role in upper-funnel searches. As a result, brands need to treat non-revenue pages similar to revenue pages.
“SEO has come a long way in the last couple years with the digital space transforming and growing in so many ways,” Riedel said. “I’m looking forward to exploring what might be coming next, particularly in terms of the changing landscape of Google’s SERPs and how this is creating shifts in best practices across the board.”

“I can’t wait to talk about what we believe to be some of the more important 2020 predictions for technical SEO in 2020,” Herbrand said. “From structured data and search integrations to BERT and other algorithm updates, there should be something for everyone.”
Whether you’re a newbie to SEO or been around the block a few years, this year’s webinar promises to contain actionable insights, data-driven analysis and recommendations that will make you look like the smartest person in the room.
