Our Philosophy

Success can be defined in many different ways, but ultimately we believe that success is based on results: more leads, more sales, more conversions for you as our client.

A four-person account team will be assigned to your account once you become a client of The Search Agency:

  • Senior Account ManagerYour Senior Account Manager serves as the focal point, leveraging our paid search expertise to exceed your search campaign objectives.

  • Account Manager/Analyst:  Each client also receives the expertise of an Account Manager/Analyst, who analyzes your search campaign results and recommends new strategies.

  • Creative Editor:   As a client you can also benefit from the talents of a Creative Editor, who works on keyword expansion, title, description, and landing-page recommendations.

  • Technical Specialist:  To complete your team, a Technical Specialist is assigned to assist you with tracking your search campaign and to develop analytical reports.

Together, you and your team look at your website from top to bottom to develop a search marketing campaign that best meets your goals.

We believe in testing, testing, and more testing. The Search Agency believes in continual iterations so we can always be providing you with better results. With SEM, this includes testing new keywords, titles, descriptions, landing pages, and different bid pricing and positioning, all with a key focus on generating better results. On the SEO front, this means constantly reviewing results and looking for ways to improve position and traffic volume.

The Search Agency believes in providing professional service in an ethical manner, and does not participate in or condone any spam techniques.

Management Team

David Hughes, Chief Executive Officer
David Hughes joined The Search Agency in early 2004 as Chief Executive Officer with hands on management for its product, technology, operations, sales, and account management functions. Prior to joining The Search Agency, Hughes served as Senior Vice-President, Corporate Development for United Online, Inc. Hughes is a graduate of Harvard University's Graduate School of Business Administration, where he was awarded the Dean's Award for leadership, and the University of Western Ontario where he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors.


Carl Dunham, Chief Technology Officer
Carl Dunham founded The Search Agency in 2002 and serves as Chief Technology Officer. His primary responsibilities include product development and R&D. Prior to founding The Search Agency, Dunham was Vice President of Product Development for Search123 and the managing director of Simpli.com, a company he helped found in 1999. He has a degree in computer science from Brown University, and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island.


David 'Otto' Rahmel, Chief Research Officer and Executive Vice President of SEO
David 'Otto' Rahmel has 14 years of management, strategic planning, and business development experience with leading-edge technologies companies. He is a regular speaker on SEO and Video Search.  He also has more than 17 years experience in developing numerous platforms for companies and educational institutions including developing and managing financial databases for UCLA. Rahmel has spent the past eight years developing teams and providing SEO services to dozens of Fortune 500 companies around the world. Prior to joining The Search Agency, he managed daily technology operations at a B2B import/export company.


Frank Lee, Senior Vice President of Client Services
Frank Lee is responsible for the team dedicated to providing search expertise and support for The Search Agency’s clientele, as well as strategic partnerships with all the major search engines. Previously, Lee was on the Strategic Alliances team at Yahoo! Search Marketing, where he was responsible for managing the reseller programs in the Western region. Lee holds a BA in Communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a member of SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) and the Los Angeles Ad Club.


Steve Levitt, Vice President of Business Development
Steve is responsible for the Business Development team, which works directly with new customers to design campaigns that meet their specific goals. Levitt brings more than 15 years of expertise in complex and consultative sales with large corporations. Prior to joining The Search Agency, he was Director of Sales for a startup search advertising firm and has gained expertise in technology, marketing and sales while working for Level(3) Communications, Genuity/GTE, and Infonet. He has a BS in Business Administration from California Polytechnic University at Pomona and is a member of the Los Angeles Ad Club.
 
Rick Egan, Director of SEO Services
Rick Egan serves as the Director of SEO Services and oversees the management of all Search Engine Optimization activities.  These include site architecture, SEO content development, link building, strategy development and analysis and reporting.  Prior to joining The Search Agency he ran several startup ventures where his responsibility included Marketing, Finance and Operations.  Other experiences included ten years with a fortune 200 healthcare company as a Senior Product Manager developing products such as mail based health programs for diseases such as diabetes, heart health and health risk appraisals.  He also spent two years as the product manager for their medical provider website portal where the site was transformed from an information services site to an interactive site focused on making it easier to do business with the company.  Rick has a Masters in Business Administration and has been involved with the internet and internet technologies since 1999.
 
David Waterman, Director of SEO Content Development
As the Senior Manager for the Content Development team, David Waterman heads and works with on-staff SEO Creative Editors to plan, develop and integrate optimized content for clients. David works very closely with clients to ensure that all content is developed based on their industry-specific and individual needs, and works side-by-side with the Content Development team to fully optimize all client content for effective search engine detection.  David Waterman’s expertise in content optimization allows The Search Agency to provide clients with detailed content analysis, research and development, and ultimately help clients improve the performance of their websites. Waterman worked previously in marketing at UCLA and received his Bachelor of Communications from Cal-State Fullerton.
