Page Content“Content is king” is a common phrase in the search world. Remember, search engines can’t think for themselves, so they need to be told clearly what a webpage is about. If the page doesn’t expressly tell the engine what its topic is, then the engine will make its best guess. If you don’t want a search engine algorithm “deciding” what your website is about, you’ll need to optimize each aspect of your page content as much as possible.
Page content defines the topic of the page and how much of a topic “expert” that page is compared to other web pages on the same topic. A page whose content has not been optimized to attract search engine attention will not be considered as much of a topic expert as a page that has been optimized, and therefore will show up lower in search results.
For any reasonably competitive keyword, there will be around 30-50 million results. If your site is to have a chance of showing up anywhere near the top of those search results, each page’s content must be optimized to clearly present relevant information on that page’s keyword. |
